This year's World's Best Power Plants feature showcased 15 unique plants, ranging in power output from 65kW to 424 MW, with one resounding and common theme -- emissions and efficiency. As the staff reviewed the current submissions, it became crystal clear that these two elements are playing an increasingly important role not only as new plants are planned and built but also as equipment comes due for overhaul. Scheduled outages for major overhauls are providing key opportunities to integrate equipment and plant improvements. Several of our "best plant" submissions highlight upgrade success stories -- adding fuel flexibility, lowering fuel consumption, reducing emissions, increasing thermal output. We present these power plants to you now as part of the Diesel and Gas Turbine Worldwide Online Electric Power Show.
